Where to start
AMERAT tests what you already study in Class 11 and 12, plus English and general awareness. You do not need to learn anything new; you need to revise well and practise answering quickly and accurately. Start with three steps:
- Read the AMERAT syllabus and mark the topics you find hardest.
- Try our sample questions to see where you stand.
- Fix a daily study slot of two to three hours and keep it.
A six-week study plan
| Week | Focus |
|---|---|
| Week 1 | Physics: units, kinematics, laws of motion, work and energy. Daily: English vocabulary and 15 minutes of news. |
| Week 2 | Mathematics: algebra, trigonometry, permutations and combinations, sequences and series. |
| Week 3 | Chemistry: basic concepts, periodic table, bonding, equilibrium, redox reactions. |
| Week 4 | Physics and Mathematics: electricity, magnetism, optics; calculus and coordinate geometry. |
| Week 5 | Chemistry: organic chemistry basics and hydrocarbons. English grammar and sentence correction. GK revision. |
| Week 6 | Full-length practice: 100 questions at a time, then review every mistake. Light revision of formulas. |
How to handle +4/−1 marking
- Answer the questions you are sure of first. Each one earns 4 marks.
- If you can rule out at least one wrong option, an educated guess is usually worth taking.
- Do not spend too long on one question. Mark it, move on and come back later.
- Keep an eye on the time so you reach every subject.
Exam-day checklist
- Your admit card, printed or on your phone, and a valid photo ID.
- Check your exam mode, date and time on the admit card. You can download it again from the admit card page.
- Online mode: test your device, internet connection and webcam the day before, and sit in a quiet, well-lit room.
- Offline mode: reach the centre early with your documents.
- Sleep well the night before; a fresh mind scores more than last-minute cramming.

Frequently asked questions
How long should I prepare for AMERAT?
Six weeks of steady preparation is enough for most students who have studied Class 11 and 12 PCM. Start earlier if you need to revise basics.
Should I guess answers in AMERAT?
A wrong answer costs 1 mark and a right answer earns 4. If you can rule out at least one wrong option, an educated guess is usually worth taking. Avoid blind guessing on many questions.
What should I carry on exam day?
Your admit card and a valid photo ID. If your admit card shows online mode, also check your device, internet connection and webcam in advance.
Is coaching needed for AMERAT?
No. NCERT books, a clear plan and regular practice are enough for most students.
